María Hernández is the design director of The Visual Romance. Currently based in Madrid, she was born in Merida (Spain), where she developed a strong connection to art and music from an early age thanks to her mother.
After finishing her studies in Design, she continued her career and training working for companies like Interbrand, Vogue, Draftfcb and the Instituto Europeo di Design. She has always balanced her job with other projects where she has set her personal and recognisable style as a designer.
María claims that her work is based on an ongoing search of beauty and she considers that a solid concept is the essence of a good design. Her approach is characterised by a rich use of colour, a special attention to the typographical elements and a commitment to a visually clear and elegant language.
María’s work has been published in and reviewed by plenty of books and magazines both national and internationally. Some of them are the German publishing house Gestalten, the French magazine Étapes or the American Institute of Design AIGA.
